When the opportunity for a much-needed girls’ trip to Las Vegas came knocking, I couldn’t resist. The prospect of meeting my best friend and another close companion for a long weekend in the city of lights and endless entertainment was too tempting to pass up. We hopped on a plane and settled into a luxurious hotel right on the iconic Las Vegas Strip—it was my first time experiencing the city’s vibrant energy. From the moment I stepped off the plane, I was captivated by the dazzling lights and the palpable excitement that permeated the air. Our stay spanned from Thursday through Monday, giving us the perfect amount of time to immerse ourselves in all that Las Vegas had to offer.
Our hotel was more than just a place to rest—it felt like a mini-kingdom. At the bottom of the hotel was a mall filled with enticing shops, delectable dining options, and one deal we couldn’t resist: three drinks for just $10. Needless to say, we took advantage of that offer more times than we’d like to admit. One of the highlights of the trip was reconnecting with my cousin Tammy, whom I hadn’t seen in years. Our time together was filled with meaningful conversations and shared moments that turned out to be unexpectedly therapeutic, offering a much-needed dose of healing.
No trip to Las Vegas is complete without exploring the famous Strip, and we made sure to visit renowned casinos like the Bellagio and Caesar’s Palace, as well as the visually stunning Chandelier restaurant. While the new Sphere wasn’t open during our visit, it’s definitely on our list for next time. One glamorous evening took us to a rooftop restaurant where we dined and danced under the stars, soaking in the glittering skyline. To spice things up, we even attended a Magic Mike show—my friend’s idea, not mine! Though exhilarating and not quite my cup of tea, I may have ended up receiving a lap dance that my best friend humorously recorded (don’t worry, that video will never see the light of day).
In many ways, this trip to Las Vegas marked the exciting kickoff of my one-year sabbatical, during which I plan to travel the world in search of life, love, happiness, joy, peace, tranquility, and a deeper connection to my faith and spirituality. I affectionately call Vegas my “turnip trip”—a fun, lively beginning to a journey of self-discovery. Be sure to follow my blog for more adventures as I explore what the world has to offer. Vegas was just the beginning, and the journey has only just begun.
